“Unlike some of the other applicants, I was nominated by my school to receive the OBS Leadership & Service Award (LSA), allowing me to attend the 21-day Classic Challenge Course after my A Levels. I felt it was a chance to be away for almost a month to push myself to my limits, and also to get a good break after A’s.
After the course, we were tasked to organise a community service project. So my watch mates and I planned for a walk-a-thon across Singapore, raising funds for Willing Hearts. This walk-a-thon has been happening every year since then!
Even though I'm not as close to my watch mates now as I was during the 21 days, we still get together once in a while and try to continue our post service project every year.
If you're sitting on the fence, I'd say go for it! 21 days may seem super daunting especially without your gadgets. But time really passes very quickly and before you know it, you will be at day 19, 20, 21. It’s really an experience that you’ll always remember.”
As part of the LSA, participants embark on a 3-month Post Course Service Project segment immediately after completing their 21-day OBS Classic Challenge Course. This project segment provides participants with the opportunity to better understand the actual needs of the community and develop feasible initiatives to apply all they have learnt from the last 21 days and make a felt impact through the project, approaching challenges with enhanced confidence and innovation.
